Luke Spellbound

Bio:

DJ/Producer Luke Spellbound from Sydney Australia has enjoyed a successful dance music career spanning over 20 years. From playing at raves and clubs, to radio stints, producing and remixing, record label management, event promotion and running a national underground rave magazine, Spellbound has shied away from nothing in the dance music industry and it's earned him a high profile (without ever becoming commercial) as well as a reputation for professionalism in everything he does. After many years pioneering hardcore in Australia with his label Execution Records, plus also a year living and djing in Canada, Spellbound emerged in 2004 with his fresh new sound - Hardstyle. He signed with Hardnation in Germany and released five successful EP's. In the following years he made his mark in Holland and Italy with releases on Sys-X, DJS, Special, Stik, Kattiva and Implosive. Currently he is running and releasing tracks on his own label – Aussie Hardstyle Recordz. Spellbound’s tracks have had massive support from dj's all over the world and have been licensed to some of the biggest hardstyle compilations in Europe. Spellbound's history is an interesting one… starting in 1990 mixing hip hop he quickly made the transition to techno and rave just one year later. Spellbound soon became a well known, well respected and sought after DJ. To many, the name Spellbound and hardcore went hand in hand. His energetic in-your-face style and dedication to always pushing cutting edge sounds gained him sets at raves and clubs not only in his home town of Sydney, but all over the country. Over the years he has had the pleasure of supporting a host of international and local dj's and live acts at events across Australia including Defqon.1, Utopia, Gatecrasher, Godspeed, Transmission and Magic City. Internationally, Spellbound has played in Holland, England, New Zealand, Canada and the U.S.A. On the production front, Spellbound released dozens of highly successful mixed tapes including the infamous "Sex, Drugs & Hardcore" series. This lead to Central Station Records recruiting him to compile and mix various CD comps. With Central Station he is also started CEN•COR Records, and together with Mikey under the guise of BOPGUN went on to release 8 ep's, including collaborations with DJ SLIPMATT and MC BEE from THE ULTIMATE BUZZ. In 1997 Spellbound & MIkey went on to start their own label - EXECUTION RECORDS, bringing on board Aussie artists DJ JEN-E and LUKE KENNY (Industrial Strength / ID&T). They released another 4 ep's, including the Australian hardcore anthem of 1998 "WannaFUK" (the Spicegirls parody), which was licensed to Sony Music for Australia’s No 1 selling techno compilation - STRICTLY TECHNO
